Dowel Joint Walk-Through: Build An End Table

When you need a strong way to connect two pieces of wood, one of the easiest ways is with a dowel joint. And you can build the following project made with such joints with materials from your local home center (the cut list below will allow you to build a 16” x 16” end table)! Additionally, the video will walk you through the entire process of creating and utilizing the dowel joint.

*Tip: You can customize the size of your materials and cut list to suit your needs.


Materials:

  • (1) 8′ Long Pine (2×2)
  • (1) 6′ Long Pine (1×2)
  • (1) 6′ Long Pine (1×4)
  • (1) 6′ Long Pine (1×6)

Cut List:

  • (4) Legs at 18-¼ ” (from 2×2)
  • (4) Stretchers at 11-½” (from 1×2)
  • (4) Aprons at 11- ½ ” (from 1×4)
  • (3) Top Pieces at 16-½” (edge glue these together for a 16-½” x 16-½” top)
