The router collet extension makes it possible to use all diameters of 1/2" and 1/4" shank bits safely. Place the router collet extension shank in the 1/2" router collet and the router bit shank in the extension collet and tighten both. Wrenches and instructions included. rough switch (3/5), Apr 12, 2010

By Carson DeMille (Richfield UT US)

The switch looks to be good quality, however, like the other reviewer stated, the buttons are extremely hard to push. You really have to shove to turn the buttons on and off. For the price I paid, you would expect more. I would possibly look at other options knowing I am not the only one with this problem.

Greg in KY (5/5), Jan 14, 2010

By Greg Cundiff (Crab Orchard Ke US)

I recently purchased a new router table and fence (item #2392) and the stand, I was in desperate need of a safety switch. I will admit I was a little leary at first, thought it looked a little cheap, we all know what that usually means. O'boy was I surprised when it showed up at my doorstep. I was even more surprised to see that I could add two additional cords to this switch, which will be handy for running the router and a shop-vac all from one switch. But before you get your hopes up, the additional cords and hardware to install them in this switch is NOT included, but can be obtained from nearly ALL home improvement or hardware stores. However, I did have a little trouble with how rough the switching action was, I took the switch apart and a little sanding to the angles on the contact bar and its as smooth as anyone could ask for. MLCS Thanks again for such a great product at such a good price.

Increases tablesaw safety (4/5), Aug 22, 2011

By Mike Young (San Antonio TX US)

I mounted this to the front rail on my Delta Contractors Saw. It let me quickly and safely turn the power off with a small movement of my knee against the enlarged paddle instead of having to reach under the table. It worked great for two years, then the tab for the mounting screw broke. I had to rotate the switch in the box to use the tab on the other end. This required some rework because the threaded holes on the other end were bigger and the bushings provided for the cables did not work. When I remounted the switch, I put a stiff board behind it to prevent the flexing which broke the first mounting tab. It's back in operation and I'm still glad I purchased this.

Mechanical Engineer / Physicist (1/5), Feb 19, 2010

By Thomas Tyrie (Francestown NH US)

Very poor quality switch. Rough initial switching action. After a dozen switch cycles the switch failed to toggle any more. When opened up switch found plastic switch casing was broken during initial assembly of switch. Also the button castings were molded with a mismatched parting line in the mold producing an uneven surface. This uneven surface caused the initial switch action to be sticky. Another reviewer (see Safety "Router Table" Power Switch review) observed the same issue and resolved the problem by sanding this surface smooth. That review prompted me to open the switch and attempt the same repair only to discover a damaged switch. My final solution - adapted cover plate to the original Delta USA manufactured high quality switch and electrical box. This task was not straight forward since the Safety Motor Power Switch Cover mount holes did not align with those of a standard metal electrical box.

Last Comments: Price was good. Disappointed by poor switch quality. Buyer should not have to modify switch parts to achieve smooth action. While the cover plate and plastic electrical mounting box are not industrial quality they are still good quality parts.

Jim from Ohio (5/5), Dec 15, 2009

By James J. Petelin (Massillon OH US)

I replaced a bad toggle switch on my old Delta Contractor Saw with this one. The Delta replacement switch was more than twice the cost and not nearly as safe. This is a "no brainer" purchase if you need to replace your switch or if you want to upgrade an existing switch - definitely Five Stars!

'Ol WC from Michigan (5/5), Oct 9, 2009

By Wes Crawford ( Mi US)

I have installed the hardwired version on my table saw/router table extension. Many use this paddle switch mounted on the side of the table. Mine is also on the side, but faces to the front on an angle bracket at exactly the right height for thigh operation. This allows me to keep both hands on the workpiece at all times. This is a 2 pole switch, and I use the second set of poles on the switch to operate my shop vac. I installed a double duplex receptacle set-up adjacent to the switch which is handy for the vac and other tools. The switched receptacle is for the vac and is controlled by an adjustable "off delay" cube relay mounted in the magnetic starter for my table saw that allows the vac to run a preset length of time after the router is turned off to clear the hose.

When I'm done with the router, I just plug the vac in "next door" in the other non-switched receptacle to use with other operations.

The switch has worked flawlessly, and I highly recommend it. In fact, I wish it was available in a momentary contact version to use with the table saw. I could use this maintained contact version, but would have to give up the benefit of no auto restart after a power outage. Unfortunately, where I live, these are all too common.

Offered for the convenience and safety of all my fellow wood butchers,

Wes Crawford
