These Carbide Tipped bits are designed to give you a full 1-1/4" reveal or larger (see carbide height sizes in chart) on your panels with a bit that measures only 1-1/8"(1-1/4" for #8680) in diameter! The vertical raised panel bits will allow you to raise panels quickly and easily. Use on 3/4" thick stock. Use #8680 for making 10 sided frames. 2 flute, Carbide Tipped with fully enclosed ball bearing guide for 5/8"-1" stock. The undercutter panel bit lets you produce flush panels, adds a radius to the back sides of panels for decorative appearance or reduces the exposed upper panel profile. I bought this to do raised panel doors made out of walnut. When I saw the bit I was really concerned about making the cut in one pass. I set the router to the recommended RPM, took a piece of scrap walnut and tried it. It worked beautifully. I did four doors in minutes with a very smooth cut. An excellent bit.

The bit itself did a good job, but the bearing self-destructed after appx. 3 minutes - I'm having a problem finding a replacement....

MLCS NOTE: Anytime you experience a problem with a bearing during the warranty period, all you need to do is contact us directly and we're happy to send a replacement.

The 2 flute, carbide tipped undercutter bit, with totally enclosed ball bearing guide is designed to relieve the back of a raised panel with a 1/8" radius shaped cut. This will let the panel sit flush with reference to the doorframe. It also cuts the panel tongue to 1/4" thick when working with 3/4" stock and certain panel shapes.

Wow, what an excellent tool. I am making panel doors for our kitchen. I could not find a solo back panel cutter anywhere until I received the MCLS catalog in the mail. This bit was a marvelous addition to my set. And what a bargain at only $18.00. It cut through the maple I was using smoothly with no vibration or chipping. I am very happy with this purchase. My only regret was dropping it and chippng the carbide -- but I immediately ordered a new one. This bit will be a part of my collection for certain.
