This is a really good dado stack for money. I received it for Christmas last year. It came in a little white box with the only markings "Made in China". It had no other documentation at all. It sat in the box for a while and I finally got it out to see how it performs. Frankly I am very pleasantly surprised. It is as good or better than other much higher priced blades that I have used. I tested on some 3/4" sanded ply and also 1/2" MDF that I had laying around.

It cut cut the plywood with perfect un-chipped edges and a perfectly smooth bottom. Usually blades I have used are good at one or the other but rarely both unless you go for a really expensive set usually $300 +.

I figured the side blades to be .117" each and the chippers are a true 1/8". The sanded ply was .735" so it just took the side blades and three 1/8" chippers with no shims. I made a nice zero clearance throat plate and "perfection".

The MDF was actually .519" measured with my old reliable Mitutoyo calipers. It took 2 1/8" chippers and a .015 and .020 shim supplied with the kit. It's perfect.

The blades fit the Arbor on my table saw very tightly. In fact I had to work them on the first time. Now they go on much easier. The advantage is they produce flat perfect cuts.

As I said this a very good value and I would recommend it. Marketing and documentation is poor but I think the price would go up if the manufacturer took the trouble to do it right. It could be a big disadvantage to a beginner.

I WAS SKEPTICAL WHEN I PURCHASED THIS DADO SET AT SUCH A LOW PRICE, HOWEVER HAVING OTHER SETS COSTING TWO TO THREE TIMES AS MUCH, I WAS IMPRESSED AT THE QUALITY AND SPEED AT WHICH THIS SETS CUTS. OF ALL THE SETS I USE, CUTTING THOUSANDS OF HALF LAP JOINTS USING A RADIAL SAW, THIS SETS PERFORMS AS WELL OR BETTER THAN ALL OF THE DADO SETS I HAVE BEEN USING, COSTING TWO AND THREE TIMES AS MUCH. I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS SUPER STACK DADO SET TO SAY THE LEAST!! AT THE PRICE OF THIS DADO SET, I WILL BE PURCHASING ANOTHER SET, SO I HAVE ONE TO USE WHEN I HAVE TO SEND OUT THIS SET TO BE SHARPENED. EXCELLENT QUALITY AT A GREAT PRICE!! THANK YOU.

Best dado set available anywhere (5/5), Jan 20, 2011

By Allen Rolland (Gainesville VA US)

I have longed for a new stack dado set for a long time, but everything out there is either priced way too high, has far fewer teeth than this set, or has winged chippers with only 2 or 4 teeth. This set is amazing: 42 teeth, and full diameter chippers with 6 teeth each. The carbide quality, sharpness, and large tooth size is exceptional. The bottom of the dado is smooth, the widths of the blades are exact, and tear-out is minimal. The dado set is hefty, and in place on the saw arbor is quite imposing, but actually runs much quieter than wobble sets or 2 tooth wing chipper sets. One area for improvement is the case: cardboard with paper between the blades will not last long. I overcame this by installing a 1/2" rod on the side of my Powermatic 66, angled up slightly. I made 8" "washers" from 1/6" thick rubber material. And finally, where else can you buy a HEAVY dado set and receive free shipping? I am an MLCS customer forever.

Not a flat bottom (3/5), Feb 22, 2010

By Mike Kleinhenz (Fisherville Ke US)

I was pretty impressed when I received this Dado stack. I like the full body chippers, and everything along with the shims is packaged well. When I mounted the stack, it fits very snug on the arbor, which I figure is a good thing for an accurate fit. Cut several dadoes, and was disappointed the bottoms weren't flat, appears to be several thousand's difference in the overall diameter of the chippers. This won't matter in a cabinet with a face frame, but an open exposed joint is going to take some chisel work to obtain a flat bottom. I did like the width dimensions, every width was right on.

Dado set (3/5), Mar 4, 2009

By Behrooz Kousari (Phoenix az US)

I bought this product based on its price which was cheaper compare to others. it does cut clean but what I am not sure about is why I can't get exact measurement. two 1/8 blade should be 1/4 but it is not. when I add up the 1/16 and 1/8. it does not add up. the cuts are not exact. I have to use shims. it does not make sense. The shims are not good quality. some of them cut my finger twice.
