Stronger than a simple miter joint!

Rabbeting Miter Joint Router Bit Cut SampleSAVE $10! 2 flute, carbide tipped, 1/2" shank bits. This two piece router bit set makes a 45° miter rabbet joint that produces a larger glue surface area than a simple miter joint, with the added advantage of a more precise edge alignment. The completed joint eliminates having any end grain showing on the joints for a clean, consistent grain match. Great for joining plywood. Use for stock from 1/2" to 3/4" thick for making boxes, cabinet frames, drawers, and more.

Works well with Baltic Birch Plywood but DON'T follow... (4/5), Oct 28, 2018

By Michael Goldberg (San Jose CA US)

This video is incorrect in that the method shown only works if your stock is exactly 3/4". If your stock width is not 3/4" you must follow other instructions. I bought this bit set to work with baltic birch plywood, which is slightly undersized and wasted a lot of time trying to get a correct joint. Using the method shown in this video with undersized plywood always left a gap on the square lap edge (inside mating surface) that could not be corrected by moving the fence forward with the second bit. I later found the written instructions which are more correct. (See https://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/graphics2/TM92-93rabbetingmiter.pdf). Always set the height of both bits to 3/4" regardless of the thickness of your stock. Then can adjust fence as needed.
The written instructions do NOT ship with the bit set - you MUST get them online. Other than that, the bits cleanly cut the baltic birch plywood.
Knocking off 1 star because video is wrong for undersized stock and instructions don't ship with the bit set.
