  • European Style Door Edge Router Bits

  • Reviews
For European style cup hinges.

These 2 flute, carbide tipped bits are specially designed to shape the edges of doors that use European cup style hinges. Normal door edge and edge profile bits cut too deeply into the door edge and interfere with the hinge cups. These bits shape the edge with a shallow detail that looks great on any cabinet door.

Great Buy (5/5), May 8, 2013

By Francisco Cantua (Douglas AZ US)

I purchased profile B and am now looking to add the others. This bit has worked superbly! It provides quick and clean cuts while producing a very attractive edge. I've also varied the bit depth in the router to create different profiles making the bit more versatile besides its intended profile. Great bit!!! Great price!!! MLCS does again!!

Lightroom 4 (4/5), Nov 22, 2015

By Daniel Bellas (Eugene OR US)

I love the prices especially when the ONE bit I WANT is on sale.

The finger pull bit in the large size, 1.5" max dia. is perfect for 5/4 wood and up with the sweet spot being 6/4. If you are a 3/4 - 4/4 woody get the smaller one. I will use the large one for 3/4 drawers only if I add a 5-6/4 x strip on the drawer edge to make a visual statement. A good rule of thumb is the largest diameter equals the thickness of the wood routing surface (Amazing what you learn from buying the wrong bit for a job). On 3/4-4/4 small world plant, drawers the large diameter is maximum 3/4 bit large Dia. add at least the bit citation and earned

Example I cut the 3/4 drawer front 1.5" short, then attach with glue a 6/4x6/4x length of drawer front. I may increase the width up to 3" on largo units such as a built in wall library and drawer system. Easy to use 6/4 lumber.

Don't get the large finger pull bit if you are using 3/4 or less drawer thickness. The big bit is the bit of choice for >3/4 drawer fronts. It actually will polish the cut to a high-glossy paint ready finish--even plywood.

I also believe a set-up block should be sent with each bit. A cheap price for a potential first success, And the safest way to screen food snacks for the kiddies

I would like to see MLCS insert a How-to-Use card to briefly describe how to use each bit along with an illustration , size to fit in the plastic bit holders. I have some "bit Parts in a plastic MLCS sleeve, for the life of me can't remember which bit they are for? a bit description would now be of great use in identifying the wayward bit. The web sit could also stand some improvement for providing the tech detail of the bit--vital statistics,

Drawer Lock Bit (5/5), Aug 3, 2013

By Kurt Misfeldt (Oxford WI US)

I purchased the drawer lock bit # 7852 to use on my plywood drawers. It failed with chipping out the plywood faces. Don't use on plywood. The bit would be excellent on solid wood drawers but not plywood. Wish that it was mentioned on the use of this bit.

Setup block was a big help along with video. Advise setup block.
Constructed both flush and overhang drawer fronts.

Glue Joint router bit (4/5), May 14, 2017

By John (Haubstadt IN US)

The glue joint router bit works well and makes a nice joint. It is a little confusing as the bit that I received seems different from the one in the video- it makes the same cut but the one in the video has the cutter arrangement upside down compared to the cutter I was supplied. On the other hand, I also was supplied the setup block which was totally worthless. While the setup block appeared to have the same profile as the bit, it was slightly larger and would not fit into the profile of the bit. I had to set the bit up through trial and error. Once I had the bit set up, I cut my own "set up block" from one of my test pieces that I will use to set up the bit in the future. I wish these were American made and not Chinese. Overall a good value for the price.

HOBBIEST (5/5), Mar 19, 2015

By Robert Wetherbee (Hughson CA US)

I WOULD GIVE THE Drawer lock bit a top of the line tool to make drawers. I figured out how to make the bottom lock with the sides and front and back all made with 1/2 Baltic birch.

Real nice (5/5), Aug 20, 2019

By Phil Dommer (Corrales NM US)

So far I've only used the 7838 bit for a six sided container. Worked great but I did find an error in the "How To" pdf that you can download. For an aligned joint the bit height for a 1/2" board should be 1/4" not 15/64".

Great (5/5), Oct 24, 2015

By Frank L. Gruhn (Lakeview Or US)

I have used all three bits in the set multiple times. Never a problem with set up. I have sold out of every project I have made. Great and easy to use and set up.

very nice cut. provides a tight fit.

multi glue joint (4/5), Jul 15, 2011

By Howard (Seffner Fl )

These would be a lot easier to use if 1. the bits had numbers on them and 2.if there was clearer instructions to set the bit depth.
"sighting down the side of the fence" doesn't get it unless you want a big pile of kindling getting it set.

3 pc glue jt (4/5), Jul 11, 2011

By Howard ( )

Works good after I figured out which bit was which. My set had no individual numbers on the bits so I had to mic each one to figure out which was which.

keith (3/5), Apr 5, 2011

By Keith Valliere (Clio Mi US)

There were no numbers on any of the bits not sure if they were in the right order in the box took a while to figure out if I was using the right one for the right sided box Good quality in the bits Would like better instruction for the other sizes Been woodworking over 40 yr. and still had trouble figuring out how to use them

Ret. Tchnology Teacher (5/5), Oct 27, 2010

I have used these bits to fabricate 16 sided cylinders. They do an outstanding job. Their accuracy is superb.

8 sided glue joint bit (5/5), Oct 27, 2008

By Tim Baker (Thornton WV US)

I have used this bit for several projects including 2 pedestal end tables and a kitchen tool caddy. The bit is very easy to use and results in a perfectly fitting octogon every time. I am very satisfied with this bit.

multi side glue joint bits (5/5), Oct 18, 2008

By jerry dummer (los alamos nm US)

The box of three bits and the on-line instructions make constructing 6, 8, 12, 16 sided containers a breeze. Instructions would be improved with more material thickness settings or a formula for calculating same. Trial and error works but is time (and material) consuming.
