This was my 1st purchase and won't be my last. They must have shipped the same day I ordered. I was amazed at the quality of the bits and the storage box was a VERY nice touch. This would make a great gift. Great quality at a value price. An incredible deal.

I recently purchased the 31 piece forstner bit set. It has turned out to be a great purchase. The great thing is the selection of sizes - I always can find a bit to fit my need. The bits give a clean cut on the side an bottom. They have the max rpm and diameter printed on each bit. Plus, the included storage case keeps them all organized. Perfect for a neat freak like me.

The ones I got had rough forged shanks and did not run true. The pictures all look like they have machined/ground shanks, but mine had black rough hex shanks. I had to rotate them in the chuck to find that spot where they ran true.

Received these in a nice box. Packaging was excellent with each bit in it's own plastic bag and a blade guard on each bit. I used the 15/16" bit and it seemed to cut slow. I examined the cutting edge which had burs on the cutting edge. Matter of fact, all the bits had burs.
A little manual touch up with a diamond hone put them in top cutting condition.
I would recommend these bits or I would purchase them again if needed.

The next review is only a reference based on my experience.

I have to say that the product, in general, works well if you will only use them few times in all of your work, if you have to use them daily you have to purchase a better MLCS Set, of course, more $$$. This set was perfect for me because i will only use them few times.

Let´s talk about this set that i received.

1) The Box: It keeps the bits secure. it isn´t nice and is not well manufactured but its something.

2) The Bit Size: I have measured the diameter in all bits and they are enough precise to the size that is print on it. for example, the bit of 25.4mm (1") is really 25.28mm and the final hole is 25.38. The others the size can vary in more o less 0.10mm - 0.20mm in its diameter and the final holes are very near to the expected size.

3) The center point: Here the problems begin, each bit has its center point out of axis, this is sad, you probably will have to correct them.

4) The bit is not perfect: When the bit begin to spin you can see that the head is not well, you can see it move a little bit, this is a important problem but if you don´t really need accuracy this can be ignored.

5) The edge: The Edges are not well sharpened, they have imperfection along the edge and the sides, this is a big problem because you have to use more strength to get a deep cut. you have to correct them with a milling machine or a rotatory tool with a flexible axis these edges and sides.

6) The cutter action: they can cut soft and hard wood. I immediately tested them when i got them. I used a Cedar of 2" thick and drilled 1" depth, the cuts are nice, the friction did not burn the bit but the wood was burned a little bit. I used a Ebony of 1" thick and drilled 3/4" depth and it works! but with effort because the edge is not enough sharp, again, you have to correct them.

7) The finish: The surface of the bits are very nice, they look great! if you use the bit a with a 2500 RPM or more they probably will burn, I use them from 520 - 1500 RPM and they works well.

8) If you want to use them for a heavy duty, this is not for you but if you want a tool that can drill enough flat hole in your work, this is for you!

these bits do the work that i need right now, in the future i will buy de master set of MLCS.

These extensions are not for any Forstner under 3/4", if you want to go deeper than where the bit is inserted in the extension for the bit holder.
Have tried to find an extension holder that can be inserted into a drilled hole depth of 2 1/4". I built a work bench and pinned the tenons and had to do pins from each side of the leg/supports. Only options was to buy and auger bit for the 5/8" hole I needed.
